Busy Sunday
This morning I woke up very early to go to church. Today, they were dedicating the mass to the priests since it is the Year of the Priests. The mass was bilingual since it was the American mass combined with the Haitian mass. I had to make sure I found a parking spot and a seat because it was going to be crowded. One of the bishops came and spoke with us. I'm happy I went because it was exciting and the message was inspirational.

Going Back to Work
Going back to work was not easy. I was out for almost two months. After two days, I got comfortable and used to it again. Especially when I had to help the patients get better. Yesterday, I had a patient who was really worried about his illness. He kept asking me questions about how he looked because he thought he was dying. I told him he looked fine and that he was going to get better. I also said he had to think positively about his health. He asked me to pray for him and after I spent some time talking with him, he felt better.

Friday night
Today, I was very busy from the time I came home from school. As soon as I got home I did the laundry. That took a while. By the time I was finished, I could not start dinner. Then, I decided that I should just get pizza since there was no time to make anything. I knew that it was not the healthiest thing to eat but, I did not have that much of a choice.

Last night
I was watching the news last night, and I saw this story about a father with two children. They lived in Crown Heights. There was a fire in the building where they lived, and they didn't have any fire detectors in the apartment. Sadly, the father and two kids died.
This story reminds me of where I used to live five years ago. I was in the kitchen cooking one day and I heard my carbon monoxide alarm go off. I told my landlord and then called 911. She thought it was not a big deal. I started to feel dizzy and stepped out because I was worried even though I didn't smell anything. My daughter and I went to the Emergency Room where they found good amounts of the gas in our blood. The Fire Department came to the house and found gas leaking which was the cause of the carbon monoxide.
Anyway, I'm advising everyone to make sure they have both a fire detector and carbon monoxide alarm in their home.

A Busy Saturday
I woke up early this morning to go to therapy. Then I went to go get my hair done. After the hair salon, I went to the supermarket. It was raining so hard outside. The parking lot at the supermarket was so crowded that I felt like going home. But, I stayed because I had no choice. When I got home, I made dinner. My daughter enjoyed it so much that I was glad that I went to the market after all.

Thursday morning
This morning, while I was trying to get some sleep, my daughter called me from the bus stop because she missed the first bus. This happened because she takes too long to get ready in the morning. My phone rang in the middle of my nap and she was asking me to pick her up, and drop her to the next bus. I had to get out of my bed and take her so she wouldn't be late.
My phone rang around 9:30 after my daughter was in school and she called to tell me that the mayor scheduled a random security check in her school. She was crying to me saying that they took her ipod and her cellphone for no reason. I told her she shouldn't have it out, but I found out that it was in her bookbag. So now, she has to wait until Monday when I can come to the school and pick it up for her.

At the Laundromat
After school, I went home. When I got there, I noticed that I have so many clothes to wash. I decided to go to the laundromat. While my clothes were being washed I sat down. I saw this man who was about 80 years old. This poor man had a dryer filled with clothes, and he was trying to take them out one by one. Some of them dropped on the floor, and he could barely bend down to pick it up. When I saw that, I got a laundry cart for him because he did not have one. I helped him take the clothes out of the dryer and fold them. The old man felt so happy and thanked me. I was glad I helped him out.
So, last week Barby was asking us to do three things to show kindness to other people. Helping and paying attention to others is something I believe we should continue to do. Believe me, you will feel happy about doing it.
